It has been said that this sport utility vehicles competition include the Ford Explorer, the GMC Envoy, the Dodge Durango, and the Nissan Pathfinder. Most of the Toyota 4Runners are sold in the United States, in Canada, and in Mexico. Outside of these areas and outside North America, the Toyota 4Runner is marketed as the Toyota Hilux Surf.

The Toyota 4Runner has been made available in three trim levels, aside from the base Toyota 4Runner. These trim levels comprise of the Toyota 4Runner SR5 which could be yours for $27,635, the Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition for $29,975, and the Toyota 4Runner Limited which is priced at $34,350. Also, this vehicle gives interested parties and patrons the chance to choose as per what color their vehicle would be. The interiors color choices are Stone, Taupe, and Dark Charcoal. There is a larger range of choices for the exterior though. The list includes Shadow Mica, Nautical Blue Metallic, Galactic Gray Mica, Salsa Red Pearl, Black, Driftwood Pearl, Titanium Metallic, and Natural White.
